Blake Tollison Shelton (born June 18, 1976) and raised in Ada, Oklahoma first began his musical career at the age of 16 playing and singing in local bars and clubs. This led him to eventually become a little local celebrity and winning the Denbo Diamond Award a prestigious award given to talented artists in Oklahoma.
Shelton then graduated high school and ended up leaving Oklahoma to move to Nashville and pursue the dream of becoming a singer-songwriter. Shelton went to work and began to write a few successful hits and ended up signing with Giant Records, releasing his first album 'Austin' in 2002.
'Austin' quickly made its way to the top of the Billboard music charts and stayed in the number one spot for 5 weeks, this is what kicked off Shelton's musical career with the album now being Platnum-certified.
