Get to know American country music singer/ TV Personality Blake Shelton in the lead up to the Tracks96.1 Top 100 Country Countdown

Blake Tollison Shelton (born June 18, 1976) and raised in Ada, Oklahoma first began his musical career at the age of 16 playing and singing in local bars and clubs. This led him to eventually become a little local celebrity and winning the Denbo Diamond Award a prestigious award given to talented artists in Oklahoma.

Shelton then graduated high school and ended up leaving Oklahoma to move to Nashville and pursue the dream of becoming a singer-songwriter. Shelton went to work and began to write a few successful hits and ended up signing with Giant Records, releasing his first album 'Austin' in 2002.

'Austin' quickly made its way to the top of the Billboard music charts and stayed in the number one spot for 5 weeks, this is what kicked off Shelton's musical career with the album now being Platnum-certified.

'Austin' is the single that shot off Shelton's career staying in the #1 of the US Billboard Hot Country Songs chart for 5 weeks. The song tells of a girl moving to Austin after breaking up with her boyfriend and then trying to reconnect with him a year later. This song is what skyrocketed Shelton's career so it would be rude not to chuck it on this list.

Happy Anywhere (feat. Gwen Stefani)

'Happy Anywhere' is one of Shelton's most recent songs featuring guest vocals from his girlfriend, Gwen Stefani. This is their fourth collaboration together with the song peaking at number 56 on the Billboard Hot 100. The song is described by Shelton as a "loving feel-good tune", with the lyrics telling how a couple can always find happiness regardless of the circumstances.
