"Guys, this is amazing, this is the very first video that I've ever directed on my own and I just, I'm so grateful for this"

Taylor Swift has broken yet another record, becoming the first female solo artist to win the VMA for Best Director.

The star, who has released two number one albums in the past year, 'Lover' and 'folklore'accepted the award for 'The Man' via a recorded message on Monday afternoon (NZ time).

Swift went on to thank the team who helped her create the video as well as the music industry; "I was told that this was an industry-voted award, so I want to say thank you to everyone in the industry who voted for this video."

In true Taylor fashion she also addressed her fans, thanking them for their support of her most recent release, 'folklore' and acknowledging their influence on her success in music.
